Jo Jung-suk and Jeon Mi-do Reunite in Surprise Cameo on “Resident Playbook” Episode 10

On the morning of May 9, OSEN exclusively confirmed that actors Jo Jung-suk and Jeon Mi-do will appear in episode 10 of tvN’s weekend drama “Resident Playbook,” scheduled to air on May 11. With the series finale approaching next week, their appearance is expected to mark a major highlight.
What Can Be Expected from the Teaser?
A teaser for the upcoming episode, which aired on May 10, sparked excitement among fans by showing two figures—presumed to be Lee Ik-jun (Jo Jung-suk) and Chae Song-hwa (Jeon Mi-do)—walking hand-in-hand down a dimly lit hospital corridor. Their appearance hints at a return of the beloved Hospital Playlist couple, affectionately known as the “Ik-Song couple.”
In the teaser, Ik-jun is heard saying, “It’s been so long since I’ve been back,” suggesting a return to the familiar setting. Jo Jung-suk’s agency confirmed the cameo by posting photos of the actor on the set of Jongno Yulje Hospital via social media, captioned with “Ik-jun is COME BACK” and “It’s been 4 years—Welcome back, Wise Ik-jun Day,” heightening anticipation.
Earlier reports hinted that the “Ik-Song couple” would visit Jongno Yulje Hospital, fueling curiosity about how their reunion will unfold in the new storyline.
Ik-song Couple Scenes in Episode 10
Ik-jun appears at Jongno Yulje Hospital’s emergency room to visit his friend Seo Jung-min (Lee Bong-ryun), explaining his mishap: “There was glue on the desk. I accidentally leaned on it with my elbow, and it started dripping, so I tried to catch it—and ended up like this,” he said, hands clasped together and stuck with glue. Seo Jung-min scolded him, “If you ruin your hands, you’ll be jobless. Why didn’t you just go to your own hospital?” Ik-jun simply replied, “This one’s closer to home.”
Song-hwa, who was already at Jongno Yulje to help with thesis work, spotted Ik-jun and questioned him: “Ik-jun? Weren’t we supposed to meet at the campsite? Why are you here? And what’s up with your hands?” Ik-jun playfully replied, “It’s glue. I was trying to fix the camping lantern hook you like so much.”
The scene took a humorous turn as Gong Gi-seon (Son Ji-yoon) appeared dressed more glamorously than usual, showing obvious interest in Ik-jun: “Ik-jun, what happened? When Jung-min said you were in the ER, I was so worried.” However, she soon realized the sweet chemistry between Ik-jun and Song-hwa, and Seo Jung-min bluntly commented, “You’re watching your first love and his last love. It’s been a while—didn’t you know?” revealing that Gong Gi-seon once had feelings for Ik-jun.
After getting treated, Ik-jun helped with a patient case and later took a walk with Song-hwa down the darkened outpatient hallway.
Previously, OSEN reported that “superstar PDs” Na Young-seok and Shin Won-ho would cameo in episodes 9 and 10. With Jo Jung-suk and Jeon Mi-do now joining them, anticipation is soaring higher than ever.

Jo and Jeon originally starred together in the “Hospital Playlist” series, which first aired in March 2020, followed by Season 2 in 2021. Jo played Lee Ik-jun, an assistant professor of general surgery, and Jeon portrayed Chae Song-hwa, an associate professor of neurosurgery. Their characters, who went from college sweethearts to a doctor couple, were immensely loved by fans.

“Resident Playbook” has been delighting viewers with cameo appearances that enrich the story. Starting in episode 2, characters from “Hospital Playlist” made special appearances, connecting with the new group of residents. Now, with the iconic “Ik-Song couple” Jo Jung-suk and Jeon Mi-do visiting Yulje Medical Center in “Resident Playbook”, viewers are eager to see what kind of relationship or story they will bring.
